DCEC NC connects foreigners who want to learn Japanese with Japanese who are learning English, creating opportunities to talk about Japan in Japanese together.
The DCEC NC Web Cafe, held monthly at DCEC, is a forum for foreigners interested in Japan and the Japanese language to talk about Japan in Japanese.

DCECで毎月実施しているDCEC NC ウェブカフェは、日本に興味がある外国人と、日本について日本語で話そうというもの。
この目的は、日本語を学びたい外国人に日本語を日本人と話す機会を設けて日本や日本語により親しみを感じてもらおうというもの。
実は、隠れた目的がもう一つあります。
それは、外国人と話すことに慣れていない日本人は、外国人の前に行っただけで頭が真っ白になって話せないということがあります。
そんな日本人も相手がなれない日本語で四苦八苦して日本について話そうとしていれば、自ずと日本語を教えてあげたくなりますよね。
そんな場にいつも参加していれば、外国人と話すことに抵抗がなくなるし親しみも感じてくる。
また、外国人は日本語がうまくしゃべれないのでどうしても途中で英語になってしまう。
そんな時は、こちらも英語で助けてあげる。
相手は日本語を話せないで英語になってしまったという引け目があるので日本人の英語がたどたどしかったとしても喜んでくれます。
